I love the details on this building. It's so easy to just wander around New York and you can easily miss places like this.

I like the photo-blog idea. The photos are pretty good themselves, but the short comments do make them more interesting.
The Radio Store is the former Lowes Canal Street Theater. According to Susan Tunick of Friends of Terra Cotta, "Designed in the popular Spanish baroque style, it was one of the first movie palaces to feature the "atmospheric" style in its auditorium. The theater seated 2270, and music was played on a Wurlitzer organ. The theater has been closed since the 1960s, but the terra-cotta clad façade remains (somewhat neglected). There are three very tall arched windows on the front façade above where the marquee would have been. These are faux windows (who would want REAL windows in a movie theater anyway) which were glazed black and to the casual observer, certainly DO look like panes of glass."
That's great, thanks for the info. And for being the first person I don't know to ever visit my blog. Or more specifically, the first person apart from Ed to ever visit my blog.
Of course, some people might visit your blog if you, oh I don't know, actually *told* anyone about it, or linked from anywhere.
